An incredible chocolate cake recipe I got from a friend about 25 years ago. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
1 cup butter |
4 tablespoons cocoa powder |
1 cup water |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup butter |
4 tablespoons cocoa powder |
6 tablespoons milk |
4 cups powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2/3 cup pecans, chopped |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. 2. Grease and flour a 13 x9 baking pan. 3. In a large mixing bowl, stir together 2 cups of flour and 2 cups of sugar. Set Aside. 4. In a saucepan, bring 2 sticks butter, 4 TBSP Cocoa, and 1 cup water to a boil. 5. Pour over flour and sugar mixture. 6. Add in 1/2 cup buttermilk, 2 eggs, 2tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp vanilla. 7. Pour into greased and floured baking pan and bake for 30 minutes. 8. While baking, mix together the following:. 9. 1 stick softened butter, 4 TBSP cocoa powder, 6 TBSP milk, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 2/3 cup chopped pecans. 10. As soon as cake is out of oven, spread frosting over cake. |
