My Mom brought this recipe with her from Kansas in the '40s. These cookies are very tender, very delicate and very moist. Enjoy! Ingredients:
1 c sugar |
1/2 c sour milk |
( add 1 tsp vinegar to milk and |
let stand until milk curdles) |
1 tsp soda |
1 c raisins, softened in hot water |
2 c flour |
1 c shortening |
2 eggs |
1 tsp nutmeg |
1 c oatmeal, quick cooking |
1/4 c chopped nuts |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs, milk, dry ingredients and mix well 2. Add raisins, oatmeal & nuts 3. Drop by tsp onto cookie sheet bake until raised and springy when lightly touched 8-10 minutes 350. 4. Do not overbake. The edges should just be turning golden when completely done. |
