I designed this one on the run, and it has been a Family favourite ever since. Always satisfying and always a great gravy, and enough to go around when unexpected guests show up! Ingredients:
1 - 2 pounds of chuck, trimmed and cubed |
1 medium onion sliced or use 2 shallots sliced ( my preference) |
1 can (10 1/4 oz) beef consomme |
1/2 - 3/4 cup red wine |
salt & pepper to taste |
1/4 - 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs to taste |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300 Degrees. 2. Mix together the cubed beef, onion, consomme, red wine and salt and pepper in a bowl. 3. Stir in the bread crumbs. 4. Transfer to a casserole dish, cover. 5. Bake at 300 degrees for 3 hours...**also can be done in a Crockpot for 5 hours on low** 6. Serves 4 - 6...and can always be doubled. 7. Great Sunday supper fare with Mashed Potatoes, Garlic Bread, Salad and Fresh Veggies...Enjoy! |
