I found this in an old newspaper clipping tucked inside a cookbook I bought at an auction. It said the recipe came from Mrs. John Ketelsen of Somers (Calhoun county). Ingredients:
1 cup powdered sugar |
1 cup margarine |
1/4 cup granulated sugar |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/4 teaspoon lemon flavoring |
2 1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cream of tartar |
Directions:
1. Mix in order of recipe. Do not add more flour. Drop by teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet. 2. Flatten each cookie with the flat bottom of a water glass that has been dipped in white granulated sugar. These are baked as soon as they are mixed; re-kneed to cool dough. 3. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. |
