It seems people either love dumplings or hate them. Growing up with a mother from the Maritimes we had a lot of soups and stews. I just love the smell of chicken stew and dumplings on a cold day. It is one of my favorite comfort foods. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 tsp salt |
3 tsp baking powder |
2 tablespoons shortening |
1 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening with a fork. Gradually and milk and mix until smooth. Drop by tablespoon into hot stew. Cover tightly and simmer for 10-12 minutes. DO NOT PEEK or else they will turn out doughy instead of fluffy. |
