Nippy Cheddar and Apple Salad |

From Chatelaine magazine, a sharp salad with a distinctly Canadian flavour, eh. Ingredients:
3 cups romaine lettuce hearts |
1 apple |
1 stalk celery |
1/2 cup old cheddar cheese, grated |
1/4 sliced almonds |
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar |
1 teaspoon real maple syrup |
1 teaspoon honey dijon mustard |
Directions:
1. Tear lettuce into bite-size pieces amd place in large bowl. 2. Slice unpeeled apple into thin wedges on top of lettuce. 3. Thinly slice celery on top of lettuce and apple slices. 4. Grate cheese and slice nuts and set aside. 5. In a small bowl, whisk wet ingredients together to make dressing. 6. Drizzle dressing over salad just before serving. 7. Sprinkle cheese and nuts on top. |
