Recipe given to my grandmother from a family friend from Louisiana. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 tablespoons powdered sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup butter, unsalted |
4 tablespoons shortening |
1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped |
4 tablespoons ice water |
1 cup granulated sugar |
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled |
4 eggs, large |
1/2 cup light corn syrup |
1/4 cup honey |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1 tablespoon bourbon |
1 1/4 cups pecans, rough chopped |
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add chilled butter and shortening. 2. Work butter and shortening into dry ingredients until no pieces larger than a black-eyed pea remain. Add finely chopped pecans. 3. Add water and combine with a fork. Pat moist dough into a disk. Chill 1 hour before rolling. 4. Line tart pan with dough. Chill 30 minutes before baking. 5. Heat oven to 400°F. 6. In a medium bowl, combine butter and sugar. Add eggs. Whisk to combine. 7. Add vanilla, bourbon, and pecans. Mix thoroughly. Pour mixture into prepared crust. 8. Bake at 400F for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to 325F and continue baking until center is slightly set (about 45 minutes). Serve with whipped cream and honey. |
