This is from my For When I'm Old and Alone file. I got it from a cook book we got when my mom & brother & I went to New Jersey in '78. I think the name of it was The Bicentenial Heritage Cook Book, or some thing like that. Read more . It's long gone and this is the only recipe saved from it. Ingredients:
3 pounds stew meat |
3 tablespoons frying oil |
3 cups chopped onion |
1 cup chopped green bell pepper |
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed |
1 large can tomato sauce |
1 tablespoon chili powder |
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce |
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce |
1 tablespoon paprika |
3 tablespoons brown sugar |
2 teaspoons salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1 1/2 cups sour cream |
Directions:
1. Brown meat well on all sides. Mix all remaining ingredients and spices together, EXCEPT sour cream. Stir thoroughly, cover and cook slowly until beef cubes are tender, 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Stir sour cream into mixture just before serving. Serve on hot buttered noodles or rice. |
