I got this from my Memaw, my cooking idol. Keeps well refrigerated and I have frozen it and used it with great results. I have used this over and over again, especially at holidays, and it always turns out right. Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 3/4 cups shortening |
1 egg, beaten |
1 tablespoon vinegar |
1/2 cup cold water |
Directions:
1. Combine dry ingredients; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. 2. Stir in remaining ingredients. 3. Divide dough into 5 equal parts; shape each into ball and wrap tightly. Chill. 4. May be stored up to 2 weeks in refrigerator. And at least 2 months or more in the freezer. |
