When I lived in Australia, my workplace Secret Santa exchanged edible gifts. My first year there, I received a Panettone, which is an Italian fruit cake made with yeast, along with a tip that is made wonderful french toast. Read more . Ever since, each year for Christmas and New Year's Day I make french toast with Panetonne for breakfast. For 2012 we had a very low key NYE, so I decided to spice up our breakfast with a little Bailey's. Ingredients:
1/2 loaf of chocolate panetonne, sliced (preferably a week old) |
2 eggs |
1/4 cup bailey's irish cream |
1/4 cup milk |
cinnamon |
sugar |
oil |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a skillet. 2. Mix eggs, Bailey's, milk, cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. 3. Dip the Panetonne in the egg mixture and let it absorb a bit. 4. Fry in the skillet on low until cooked. |
