From a wonderful person I met when coming to Wisconsin and this is her recipe passed down,
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
1 egg yolk
5 cups apples sliced (your choice)
3/4 cup sugar
cinnamon to taste
plus 2 tsp flour
Directions:
1. Combine flour thru egg yolk into a dough
2. Using a pizza pan, roll out half into a circle for bottom crust
3. Top with sliced apples and sprinkle with sugar mixed with cinnamon plus 2 tsp flour.
4. Roll other half for top crust and cover apples
5. Make a few slit across the top
6. Bake at 375 for about 45 minutes
7. Cool THOROUGHLY then frost
8. Frosting: A good butter cream frosting works great or a frosting of your choice
