This is our standard family brithday cake recipe- we top w/ cream cheese frosting ! Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup cocoa |
1 cup wesson oil |
1 cup buttermilk |
2 eggs, beaten |
1 cup hot coffee |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Mix all together saving the coffee and vanilla to add last. Batter is thin. 2. Bake 350 for about 45 minutes. Use 2 rounds pans or 1 9 by 13. 3. Cool and frost w/ cream cheese frosting. This calls for wesson oil- any vegetable oil will work. My guess is Wesson must have come up w/ the recpie yrs ago, my grandmother used it for many, many yrs. |
