Handed down from my grandmother, it's a great way to get rid of old biscuits or bread heals everyone refuses to eat. Very yummy comfort food. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs, packed |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3 cups milk, hot |
1 tablespoon butter |
2 eggs, beaten |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
2/3 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Combine crumbs, hot milk, eggs, sugar, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and butter. Mix well. 2. Add vanilla and mix. 3. Turn into greased 8x8 baking pan. 4. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until firm. 5. Double to make a full cake sheet. |
