This is a recipe from a newsgroup I used to frequent. Nancy was the creme de la creme with her postings. Ed won't eat any other brownie and asks (begs) for these a lot!
Ingredients:
24 ounces chocolate (i use a giant size bar plus broken up and bittersweet)
1/4 cup water
11 ounces unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup nuts (optional, of course!)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Put chocolate and water into a pan.
3. Melt together over low heat.
4. (I usually do this step in the microwave)
5. Place chocolate into a large mixing bowl.
6. Add softened butter.
7. Mix until smooth.
8. Beat in sugar, then eggs.
9. Blend in flour.
10. Beat in baking powder, salt and baking soda.
11. Stir in nuts, if desired.
12. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out moist, not wet and the surface is crusty with a few cracks.
13. Servings depend in size of brownie cuts.
