My sister's mother-in-law was kind enough to share her delectable chocolate cake recipe with a hint of cinnamon. This cake is almost sinful it is sooo good. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
1 (1 -2 cup) cup butter, melted |
4 tablespoons cocoa powder |
1 cup water |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1/4-1/2 cup cup butter, melted |
4 tablespoons cocoa powder |
6 tablespoons milk |
1 box confectioners' sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 dash cinnamon |
Directions:
1. BATTER-. 2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 3. Lightly grease a jelly roll pan. 4. In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar; set aside. 5. In a small saucepan, bring butter, cocoa, and water to a boil. 6. Pour the butter/cocoa mixture into the flour/sugar mixture; mix well. 7. In a separate bowl, mix together eggs, baking soda, cinnamon, vanilla, and buttermilk. 8. Add this to the butter/cocoa/flour/sugar mixture; mix well. 9. Pour this mixture into the prepared jellyroll pan. 10. Bake for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 11. Immediately pour the frosting over the top of the hot cake. 12. Cool. 13. FROSTING-. 14. In a medium size saucepan, bring butter, cocoa powder, and milk to a boil. 15. Add confectioner's sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon; beat well. |
