i found this in a my old new zealand school cookbook and had to try it, it really is top stuff Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oil |
1 garlic clove (peeled and chopped) |
1 small onion (peeled and chopped) |
1 (440 g) can chili beans |
1 (410 g) can tomatoes |
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar |
200 g corn chips |
3/4 cup grated cheese |
1/2 cup sour cream |
Directions:
1. heat oil in a pan. 2. fry garlic and onion until soft. 3. put beans in a bowl, mash them a bit with a fork. 4. drain tomatoes, add to bowl mash them a litle. 5. add to onion in pan. 6. stir till boiling. 7. add sugar. 8. *****pre-heat oven to 190 degrees*****. 9. turn pan to low, simmer for 25 minutes, stir occasionally. 10. pour into a baking dish. 11. arrange chips around edge. 12. sprinkle cheese over. 13. bake for 5 minutes at 190 degrees. 14. take out of over, put sour cream in centre and serve. |
