What better a breakfast than bread and beer?! This simple dish takes barely any time at all and is great with any greasy sausage or sweet fruit. It's an 'anything goes' kind of dish. And why not just finish off that beer while you're at it! Read more ! There isn't a single one way to make Welsh Rabbit. It's more of just an idea of cheesy goo on toast. The real trick is to make the most unique cheesy goo possible. Ingredients:
about 2 tbsp butter |
about 2 tbsp flour |
about 1/2 to 1 tbsp of quality mustard (less with powdered) |
1/2 to 3/4 bottle of pilsner or lager style beer. |
3/4 cup blend of asiago, cheddar, and parmesan |
1 tsp worchestershire sauce |
1 tsp |
salt and pepper to taste |
chives to taste |
anything else to taste |
4 to 6 slices of rye bread |
Directions:
1. Toast all slices of bread to medium 2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter 3. Add flour, stir into a roux. 4. Add beer and mustard, stir well. 5. When this mixture begins to froth, add cheeses. 6. Sauce is complete when slightly thickened. Arrange toast on plate and pour sauce over the toast. 7. Add salt, pepper, chives, and any other last minute additions. |
