My Sweethearts Cherry Pie |

I have been making this pie for about 15 years.My husband is the one who absolutely loves it! He is the best man ever and I love to make this pie for him. The heart on top is just for my sweetie!! Ingredients:
filling |
1 1/4 cups of white sugar |
1/4 cup of corn starch |
2 cans(14.5 oz size)tart cherries..i have used fresh, but i think the oregon tart cherries are the best. be sure to drain only 1 can..i use the juice from 1 can. |
1/2 tsp vanilla extract |
1/2 tsp almond extract(do not leave this out) |
2 tbs. butter |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar,cornstarch cherries in a medium saucepan over med high heat. 2. Stir for about 6 to 10 minutes. 3. You want the cherry mixture to be thick. 4. Remove from heat and add the butter, vanilla and almongd extract. 5. Pour into all ready prepared crust. 6. Top it off with crust. 7. Bake at 375* for 35-40 min. |
