the orginal recipe I found in an Old Mother Earth Magazine. they were good but rock hard.. over the years I have changed the recipe so many times that I'm not sure what the original was anymore.. This is a large batch 15 doz. Read more . These are a much asked for cookie.. Hope you enjoy. Ingredients:
2 cups butter |
2 cups light brown sugar, firmly packed |
1 1/2 cups white sugar |
4 jumbo eggs |
2 teasp. vanilla |
4 3/4 cups flour |
1 teasp. salt |
1 teasp. baking powder |
1 teasp. baking soda |
5 cups old fashion rolled oats ( not the quick cook ) |
1 cup walnuts coarsely chopped (i use more) |
1 cup raisins |
1 cup chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. in an extra large bowl: beat butter, brown sugar, white sugar until creamy 2. add eggs and vanilla beat well 3. add the flour, salt , baking powder, baking soda and mix well 4. add nuts, raisins, and chocolate chips mix 5. add oats and mix ***** 6. bake at 325' for 10-12 mins or until lightly brown 7. ****** I add the oats last because I found it easier to mix. 8. you can use different nuts, dried fruit, and different flavored chips...... I like them with more walnuts and raisins and no chocolate chips |
