This cheesey, custardy mac n' cheese is simple and satisfies that comfort food need we all get. Ingredients:
1 lb. macaroni - cooked |
2 tsp. butter |
2 eggs - beaten |
1 tsp. salt |
2 tsp. dry mustard |
2 cups whole milk |
6 cups sharp cheddar - shredded |
fresh grated nutmeg to taste (optional) |
Directions:
1. Stir butter and eggs in hot macaroni. 2. Add cheese to macaroni mixture. Stir to combine. 3. Put macaroni mixture into a large greased casserole. 4. In small bowl mix salt and dry mustard with 2 Tbl. hot water until dissolved. Add hot water mixture to milk and stir. 5. Pour milk mixture over the mac and cheese. 6. Top with a bit of fresh grated nutmeg if desired. 7. Bake uncovered at 350 for 45 minutes. |
