My Mom's Rice Pudding

Very sweet, it tastes like caramel. Use unconverted rice, if not it does not cook.
Ingredients:
32 ounces milk
1/2 cup white rice
1/2 cup sugar
Directions:
1. Boil rice in water for 10 minutes. Drain and reserve.
2. Mix milk and sugar in a saucepan and simmer for 45 minutes.
3. Add rice and simmer an extra 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. The milk should have a light caramel color.
5. Let it cool and the refrigerate.
