My Grandmothers Cornbread |

This is a really good cornbread. My grandmother has made this cornbread for years. YUM. Ingredients:
2 cups self-rising cornmeal |
1 cup self-rising flour |
1/4 cup oil |
1 3/4 cups milk (any kind of milk will do...sweet, non fat, buttermilk.....) |
1 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375. 2. Preheat large well oiled cast iron skillet. 3. In large mixing bowl mix cornmeal, flour and salt. 4. Stir in water and oil (if batter seems TOO think add a little more water or milk until batter will pour easily). 5. Pour batter into pre-heated skillet. 6. Bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown. 7. Cut and serve with butter. |
