This is the only apple pie I've made for the past 20 yrs. I love the texture and flavor. I always use 3 different types of apples (usually 6 in all) and I always vary the sizes of the slices. This gives great flavor and texture topped with the wonderful streusel. Ingredients:
6 apples, sliced |
1/2 cup sour cream |
2 tbsp flour |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 tsp nutmeg |
topping: 1/2 cup flour |
1/4 tsp cinnamon |
1/3 cup softened butter |
1 un-baked pie crust |
Directions:
1. Place apples in bowl. 2. Combine next 5 ingredients with the apples. 3. Place these in a prepared, dough-lined pie pan. 4. Make the topping: cut the butter into the remaining ingredients until mixture is crumbly. 5. Put this mixture over the apples. 6. Bake in 400 degrees oven 50 minutes. 7. Serve plain or with whipped cream, ice cream or sour cream. |
