This is from a recipe in Easy Vegetarian Meals from Green Giant. I have long since decided I don't care for the stir-fry itself, but the sauce has been a go-to recipe for me for years. You can make a stir-fry of whatever you like and whip up this quick sauce to top it. I often double the recipe for my stir-fries, which tend to be on the larger size. Note: this does have a bit of zip, so be wary if you are feeding it to little ones and moderate the red pepper accordingly. Ingredients:
1 teaspoon sugar |
1 teaspoon cornstarch |
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (up to 1/2 teaspoon, depending on your tastes) |
1/4 cup water |
2 tablespoons soy sauce |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients and mix well. 2. Stir with a fork or whisk before adding to your stir-fry. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook until sauce begins to thicken. |
