My Favorite Baked Beans

This recipe can be doubled or tripled. Be daring with it and add you own flair. Like spice? Add spice. LIke ground beef, use it instead of bacon. I prefer to use real bacon bits spread through the beans.
Ingredients:
32 oz. can pork and beans
1 lrg. onion - chopped fine
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbls. prepared yellow mustard
1 tsp. distilled white vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1/2 lb. raw bacon (option, but recommended)
remember, you can multiply these ing. to suit your needs. baked beans is often a side that you may want a large amount of for that special family gathering .
Directions:
1. -Combine all ingredients, except bacon, in a 2 quart casserole dish.
2. -Top beans with strips of bacon in a crisscross pattern.
3. -Cover with aluminum foil.
4. -Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours.
5. -Remove foil for last 30 minutes of baking.
