I grew up with this slaw, that is really more of a salad, I guess. My Dad is the ultimate slaw maker, and we have this at every family gathering - even Christmas and Thanksgiving! I have not yet met anyone who did not love it. Read more . Hope you try it. Measurements are only approximate, I have never measured this!! LOL Ingredients:
1 large package slaw mix |
1 large, ripe red tomato, chopped |
1 large cucumber, peeled and chopped |
about 1/4 - 1/2 jar dill salad cubes, drained well |
kraft real mayo (other brands will be too sweet or too lemony, and taste really weird!!) |
celery seed |
fresh ground black pepper |
4-5 radishes, chopped (optional) |
Directions:
1. Combine first four ingredients in large mixing bowl - I usually run a knife through the slaw mix and chop it a little 2. Add radishes, if using (I don't use them - Dad did, back when he could eat them) 3. Add mayo just a little at a time until desired consistency - the tomato and the cucumber tend to be watery, so it's easy to get too much mayo 4. Sprinkle with fresh ground pepper and celery seed (salt will make the tomato and cucumber weep, and the slaw will be more runny) |
