My mother got this recipe from her aunt. I'm 51 years old and so this recipe is probably older than I am. These pickles have a special ingredient in them. A cup of cream! They are soooo yummy! Great with just about anything! Ingredients:
14 cups peeled and diced cucumbers |
5 large onions, diced |
2 sweet red peppers, diced |
3/4 cup pickling salt |
1 cup flour |
4 cups sugar |
2 cups vinegar |
2 cups hot water |
2 tablespoons dry mustard |
1 tablespoon turmeric |
1 teaspoon ginger |
1 teaspoon celery seed |
Directions:
1. combine vegetable, sprinkle with salt and let stand for 2 hours and then drain. Boil dressing for 5 minutes, add vegetables. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Add 1 tsp butter and 1 cup whipping cream. Pour into pint jars and seal. |
