An extra splash of flavor and a touch of sweetness added to these beans help make them seem more appealing to the younger family members. Chilling time not included in preparation time. From an old clipping. Ingredients:
1/3 cup sugar |
1/3 cup vinegar |
1/4 cup light molasses |
3 tablespoons prepared mustard |
2 tablespoons minced onions |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 (16 ounce) can yellow wax beans, drained well |
Directions:
1. Combine first six ingredients in a saucepan; heat to a boil. 2. Add beans and simmer five minutes; cool. 3. Drain and serve chilled as a salad or as an accompaniment to meats as a relish. 4. Any leftover liquid may be chilled and used to marinate other cooked vegetables. |
