This is SUCH a 1960's recipe! One of my Aunt Anna's that she served for Uncle Bert's 90th birthday back in the late 60's. Such good memories....such good food! Ingredients:
1 pound sliced mushrooms |
2 beef boullion cubes |
1/2 c. hot water |
1/2 stick butter |
2 t. flour |
1/8 t. salt |
freshly ground black pepper to taste. |
1/2 c. cream |
1/2 c. bread crumbs |
2/3 c. parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. Saute mushrooms in 1 T. butter. Set aside. 2. Dissolve 2 beef boullion cubes in 1/2 c. hot water. Melt 1/2 stick of butter and whisk in 2 T. flour, 1/8 t. salt, and pepper. Add 1/2 c. cream and boullion to flour & butter mixture. Cook until it thickens. 3. Butter casserole dish and put in mushrooms; pour cream sauce over all. 4. Blend bread crums and parmesan & then sprinkle over mushrooms. Baks at 350 for 30 minutes until browned and bubbly. 5. Easily doubles or tripes. |
