Mürbe Teig - Tender Crust for Pies or Torten |

A simple and delicious pie crust made without rolling. Fill with the fruit filling of your choice. From the Wisconsin Dutch chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947. Cooking time is approximate. Ingredients:
1 cup flour, sifted |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/4 cup butter |
1 egg yolk, slightly beaten |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, salt and sugar. 2. Cut in butter with two knives or a pastry blender. 3. Add egg yolk and mix thoroughly. 4. Press into a pie plate or a spring-form pan to 1/4 thickness. 5. Fill with fruit filling of your choice. 6. Bake in a 425F oven for ten minutes; reduce to 350F and bake until fruit is soft. |
