The after-ski crowd will welcome this warm, relaxing drink. I found this recipe at a Estate sale. I have not tried this recipe, but I'm posting it for safe keeping. Ingredients:
2 cups boiling water |
3 tea bags |
32 ounces cranberry juice cocktail |
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
20 whole allspice |
20 whole cloves |
2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half (3-inch pieces) |
750 ml dry red wine |
oranges slices studded with whole cloves (optional) |
Directions:
1. In a teapot or small heatproof bowl, pour boiling water over tea bags; cover and let stand 5 minutes. 2. Remove tea bags. 3. In a large saucepan, combine cranberry juice cocktail, brown sugar, allspice, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer for 15 minutes. 4. Remove spices. 5. Stir in tea and wine; heat through. 6. Serve hot in mugs. Garnish with orange slices studded with cloves if desired. |
