I couldn't believe how good this was the first time I tried it. Incredible on plain pancakes and waffles and if you want to be creative add a few toasted chopped pecans to the batter. So good with this syrup. Ingredients:
2 cups granulated sugar |
2 lbs brown sugar |
4 cups water |
1 heaping tablespoonful of a good mulling spice |
2 tsp maple extract |
1/2 tsp almond extract |
Directions:
1. In a large pan place the two sugars and water. Place the mulling spice in a tea infuser and place in pan with sugar and water. 2. Heat until there is a slow rolling boil and continue on low for about 15 minutes so that the spices can infuse. 3. Add the maple and almond extracts now, stir completely and turn off heat. 4. Remove infuser and place syrup into canning jars. I do a hot water bath then so I can can and store or give as gifts. Or you can just place in refrigerator and it will keep for several months there if it lasts that long. 5. This recipe makes 4 pints. |
