This is a tasty treat. A nice after-school snack. Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature) |
2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar |
2 eggs |
3 cups rolled oats |
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
salt, pinch |
1 cup chopped walnuts |
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk |
1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips |
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract |
salt, pinch |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. Generously grease 9x13 pan. 3. Cream 1 cup butter with sugar in a large bowl. 4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 5. Mix in oats, flour, vanilla, baking soda and salt. 6. Stir in 1 cup walnuts and set aside. 7. Combine milk and chocolate in top of double boiler set over hot water and stir until chocolate melts. 8. Add remaining ingredients and blend well. 9. Spoon 2/3 of the oat mixture into prepared pan, compacting with a fork. Spread chocolate mixture over top. 10. Crumble remaining oat mixture and chocolate and spread with a fork. 11. Bake until golden, 25 to 30 minutes. 12. Cool. 13. Cut into 2 inch bars. |
