Mrs. Wagners Chocolate Cake

Mrs. Wagner is a lovely lady who raised five children. Back in the 60’s she always had this cake in her kitchen because her husband loved it - I have fond memories of always getting a piece of chocolate cake when ever I went to her house. This cake is a deep, dark, chocolate cake and she always frosted it with homemade white frosting and finished it off with sweetened flake coconut – delicious!
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
1 cup boiling water
1 cup milk
Directions:
1. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl and make a well (indentation) in the center.
2. Pour the oil and hot water into the dry ingredients and mix to incorporate.
3. Mix milk & eggs together in a separate bowl, then combine with the other ingredients.
4. NOTE: The cake batter is more liquid than the batter from a box mix.
5. Pour batter into a greased & floured cake pan (oblong, or two round pans) and bake 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
