These brownies are from my girlfriend's Mom, Mrs. Sacco, and I've been making them ever since college, for the past 35 years. They go together in a snap, using ingredients almost always on hand, and everyone LOVES them. no greasing or lining of pan, and you just put everything in the same bowl at once and stir. I always add the eggs last, though, on top of the dry ingredients, so the melted margarine or butter doesn't accidentally cook them. You can add nuts to the batter, and frost or dust with confectioners sugar when cool. These brownies make a great little hostess gift.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted
3/4 cup flour
1 cup sugar
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
Directions:
1. In medium bowl, melt butter or margarine (microwave, about 30 seconds).
2. Add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, and eggs.
3. Slowly stir with wooden spoon to incorporate ingredients.
4. Beat vigorously with spoon until smooth.
5. Spread batter in ungreased 8x8 square pan.
6. Bake 18-20 minutes at 350.
