My sister-in-law gave me this recipe and it is out of this world. I am not a big sweet fan, thank goodness, but this one I could not resist. It is just great. Enjoy. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
2 cups sugar |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
3 -4 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup water |
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup butter |
3 tablespoons cocoa |
6 tablespoons buttermilk |
1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar |
1 cup chopped pecans or 1 cup walnuts |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cake: Sift flour and sugar together. 2. Heat butter, cocoa, water and oil until it boils. 3. Pour hot mixture over flour and sugar. 4. Mix well by hand! 5. Add buttermilk and soda. 6. Add eggs and vanilla. 7. Mix well. 8. Bake in a well greased and floured 9x13 pan at 350 for 30-35 minutes. 9. Icing: Mix butter, cocoa and buttermilk in heavy sauce pan. 10. Heat until boils. 11. Remove from heat. 12. Add powdered sugar and mix well. 13. Add pecans or walnuts and vanilla. 14. Pour over cake while cake is still hot. |
