Pecan pie recipe that my grandmother used to make for our family. It supposedly comes from a restaurant in Silver Springs, MD called Mrs. K's Tollhouse. Ingredients:
1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shells |
1 1/2 cups dark karo syrup |
3/4 cup sugar |
6 tablespoons butter, melted |
4 eggs, slightly beaten |
1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped |
1 pinch salt |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F. 2. In a medium size bowl, mix Karo syrup, sugar, butter, and eggs. 3. Add salt and vanilla; set aside. 4. Sprinkle dry pecans over the bottom of the pastry shell. 5. Pour liquid mixture evenly over the top of the pecans. 6. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes then at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until set (Note the oven temperature change). 7. Cool. 8. Serve with whipped cream. |
