I found this recipe in a children's magazine many years ago. Suggested menu: hamburger soup, breadsticks and apple crisp. Ingredients:
1/2 lb lean ground beef |
1 cup onion, chopped |
1 (29 ounce) can tomatoes |
4 cups water |
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed |
3 large carrots, peeled and sliced |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 bay leaf |
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef. 2. Add onion. Cook until onion is soft. 3. Transfer beef mixture to a 5 quart pot. Add remaining ingredients, except cheese. 4. Stir well to combine ingredients, then simmer for about an hour, until vegetables are tender. 5. Serve soup with grated cheese. |
