Mrs. Cubbison's Bread Stuffing |

This stuffing recipe used to be on the Mrs. Cubbison's stuffing box before low fat became the norm. We still like it this way with all the added veggies. Ingredients:
1 (24 ounce) box mrs. cubbison's bread stuffing mix, prepared (herb or cornbread) |
2 cups celery, chopped |
2 cups onions, chopped |
1/2 lb mushroom, chopped |
2 cups butter |
2 cups chicken broth |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a large pot. 2. Add celery, onion, and mushrooms. 3. Simmer about 5 minutes to slightly soften vegetables. 4. Toss in dressing mix to spread butter evenly. 5. Stir in liquid and toss. 6. Place in a greased casserold dish, cover, and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. 7. Uncover the last 15 minutes for a crisper top. 8. NOTE: The new packages of dressing have only 10 ounces per box, but the recipe still works as well. |
