Mr. Rainier Dessert Sauce

A lovely sauce from the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Institute of Chicago, 1947. Wonderful over cake (especially chocolate).
Ingredients:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup water
8 large marshmallows, quartered
Directions:
1. Combine sugar and water; bring to the boil.
2. Cook about ten minutes before adding marshmallowsj.
3. Beat until marshmallows are dissolved.
4. Serve at once.
