The translation of this yummy cross between a cookie, cake and pastry is literally translated as Mr Cutt or Mr Slices !!! Ingredients:
pastry-nut layer |
6 eggs separated |
200 g sugar divided |
250 g butter |
3 tbs flour |
3 tsp baking powder |
300 g crushed hazelnuts |
cream layer |
600 g whipping cream |
3 pkt whipped cream stabilizer ( or use some powder sugar to whip |
cream ) |
1 small jar red berry glaze or use red berry jam |
cookie layer |
20 square shaped butter or shortbread cookies ( storebought ) |
dark chocolate to melt |
white chocolate , grated |
cherries to garnish ( candied or drained marachino ) |
Directions:
1. Serparate eggs, beat whites stiff with 50 grams sugar 2. Cream butter and yolks and remaining sugar 3. Combine flour, baking powder and nuts 4. Add to creamed mixture. 5. Fold in whites 6. Place mixture in buttered baking oblong or sqaure pan. 7. Smooth evenly 8. Bake 190C about 20 minutes till set and done 9. Cool completely 10. Whip cream stiff and combine with some red berry glaze or jam/jelly 11. Place over cooled cake and smooth evenly 12. Grate white chocolate and melt dark chocolates set aside 13. Place whole cookies evenly together over the cream mixture and press lightly to from cookie layer 14. Decorate half or each cookie with some grated white and then with some dark cooled melted chocolate 15. Place a red candied cherry in the center of each cooky to divided choclate colors 16. Chill well and cut carefully using cookies as a portion of a cut or slice 17. Yiled about 12 to 20 servings ( depends how large cookies are when you cut them out |
