A good variation of the deep-fried mozza stick. This crispy on the outside, gooey and wonderful in the middle mozza stick is perfect served along side your favorite sports watching snacks.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup flour
4 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cup italian bread crumbs
454 g. mozzarella cheese cut into 20 sticks
3 tbsp chili powder
1/2 cup olive oil
fresh ground pepper
salt
Directions:
1. In one bowl mix flour, fresh ground pepper, and salt to taste. In the second bowl is where the eggs should be. To make it go further if needed add some milk. In the third bowl mix the bread crumbs and the chili powder.
2. Bread each stick in this order: flour, egg, bread crumbs, egg, bread crumbs. Place each mozza stick on a cookie sheet and place in the fridge for about 45 minutes. This helps the coating stay on better.
3. In a large pan heat oil to medium high heat, use more if needed but this should not be a deep frying affair. Fry each one for about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown all the way around. Serve immediately or you can keep in a preheated oven for about 30 minutes just be careful not to burn them.
