I have not tried this recipe. I got this recipe from The Beverly Lewis Amish Hertiage Cookbook. Ingredients:
2 cups sour cream |
1/2 cup honey, plus |
1 tablespoon honey |
2 tablespoons flour or 2 tablespoons tapioca |
1/2 cup orange juice or 1/2 cup apple juice |
1 cup flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons butter |
6 tablespoons milk |
Directions:
1. Mix cherries, honey, flour or tapioca, and fruit juice together and let stand 5 minutes. Pour into deep 10x16 baking dish. 2. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and honey. Cut in the butter with pastry blender or fork. Add milk and mix until a soft dough is formed. Shape dough with hands (dust mixture and hands with flour first) until it fits over the cherries. Make slits in the dough to permit steam to escape. 3. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve plain, or with whipped cream, whipped topping, or ice cream. |
