Mother Rabbit's Get Well Soup

This is a recipe from one of my daughters' favorite storybooks, The Bunnies' Get Well Soup, by Joan Elizabeth Goodman. The recipe is submitted in response to a request. I think the most important part of this recipe is that is should be served with hugs!
Ingredients:
4 celery ribs
3 peas
1 potato
6 carrots
1 lb chard leaves
1 garlic head
2 turnips
5 beets
1 lb cooked lentils
1 lb green beans
8 yellow onions
6 big yams
1 lb rice
1 lb spinach
parsley, oregano,thyme,bay leaves,salt and pepper,to taste
Directions:
1. Wash, peel, pare, slice, cube, dice, and chop all the vegetables.
2. Half fill your biggest pot with water.
3. Set it on the stove to boil.
4. Add all the ingredients, reduce to simmer.
5. Cook for one hour or more.
6. Serve with buttered toast and hugs!
