These are so fun! Probably not advisable for young children, as they look so life-like. When my grandchilren was 3 & 4, they were afraid to eat them! Ingredients:
1 c. butter (room temp.) |
1/2 c. confectioners sugar |
2 t. vanilla extract |
1 3/4 c. flour |
1/4 t/ salt |
slivered almonds |
tube of red food gel |
Directions:
1. Cream butter; gradually beat in 1/2 C. confectioners sugar. add 1 t. vanilla extract, flour & salt. Mix well and chill. 2. Shape dough into small logs (resembeling fingers). Using a small butter-knife, make 2-3 indentations in the middle of the fingers , (resembling knukles). At the end of each finger , using the butter-knife, make an indentation (finger nail) and place a slivered almond in the indentation. Bake 300 for 18 - 20 min. or until lightly golden. 3. after the cookies have cooled; using the red gel, go around the outside of each slivered almond (finger nail). |
