This is an old recipe from my mother that I've used for years at the Fire Station has well as parties. It's simple to make and very filling and always a big hit! You can eat it with tortilla chips or the Big Scoop Frito's works well. You can keep it warm in a small crock pot or any type of warming bowl. If you make this recipe you will not be disappointed!.. Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oil |
1 large onion (diced) |
2 garlic cloves (minced) |
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1/4 cup catsup |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 teaspoon pepper |
3/4 teaspoon oregano |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese |
1/3 cup parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. Put oil, onion garlic and hamburger in a pan and brown meat until cooked. 2. Drain any excess oil. 3. Add tomato paste, catsup, salt, pepper, oregano and sugar. Cover and simmer for appro. 30 minutes. 4. Turn meat down low and add creme cheese and parmesan cheese. Mix thoroughly and move to warming dish. 5. Enjoy with tortilla chips or I like the Big Dip Frito's. |
