This is my Mom's recipe for stuffing; why is it that there are some things that only your Mom can cook properly? I hope you love it as much as I do. This is enough for a 12 to 14 pound turkey. You can also cook it separately from the turkey in a container, just add it to the oven for the last half hour the turkey needs to cook. Ingredients:
10 cups bread cubes (i use a combination of white and whole wheat bread) |
1 big onion, chopped fine |
1 cup celery, finely chopped |
1/4 cup butter |
1 teaspoon ground sage |
1 teaspoon salt |
fresh cracked pepper |
1/4 cup chicken stock |
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in fry pan over medium heat. Add onions and celery, browning for about 10 minutes or until it looks glossy. Toss with bread cubes in large bowl together with remaining ingredients. Stuff into turkey. 2. This tastes better if you make it the night before and refrigerate it before stuffing the bird. |
