And the winner in the Desserts Contest is Denise Trombly of Nashua as reported in the Feast newsletter of the Nashua Times. Theseare so very easy and soft and chewy. Perfect for holiday gifts and your holiday table. Ingredients:

3 cups sugar |
1/2 pound butter |
bottle of karo syrup |
1 (14-ounce) can condensed milk |
Directions:
1. Mix first three ingredients, and boil for 10 minutes
2. Add the can of condensed milk. Bring to a boil one more time. Stir for 5 minutes.
3. Pour on buttered cookie sheet.
4. Cut, with a buttered knife, into strips, then into thumb-sized pieces and wrap tightly in waxed paper. Keep in tightly covered container.
