The smell of this easy to make bread will make your entire household hang around the oven til it comes out. Serve it warm with butter and watch the happy smiles! Ingredients:
1 pkg. dry yeast |
1/4 c warm water |
1 egg |
3-4 c sifted flour |
3 tsp minced green onion |
1 t butter, softened |
1 tsp salt |
1 1/2 t. oregano (dried) |
1/2 t chopped dried rosemary |
1 c small curd cottage cheese, room temp |
2 t sugar |
1/4 tsp baking powder |
melted butter for brushing loaf |
Directions:
1. Soften yeast in warm water. 2. Mix all other ingredients well, except flour. 3. Add yeast mixture & beat well. 4. Gradually add sifted flour to make a firm dough. 5. Turn out onto floured surface & knead 5-10 mins til no longer sticky, adding flour if necessary. 6. Put in greased bowl, cover with towel & let rise 1 hr or until doubled in size. 7. Punch down and put in well greased 1 1/2 QT casserole or bread pan (9 x 4) and let rise 30 mins. 8. Bake 40 mins at 350. 9. Turn out & brush top with melted butter. |
