Mom's German Potato Salad |

My grandparents came from Romania and this was their way of making the best potato salad. Ingredients:
1 medium onion |
1/4 cup vegetable oil |
1 head cabbage |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
pepper |
1/4 cup vinegar |
1/2 cup water |
2 1/2 lbs potatoes, peeled |
Directions:
1. In large pot brown onion in oil. Slice cabbage and add to browned onion. Add all remaining ingredients except potatoes to pot. Steam for 3/4 - 1 hour. 2. Meanwhile cook potaotes, then add to cabbage mixture and stir to blend well,. |
